Pre-Natal Classes

I danced all the way through my pregnancies and know many other dancers who have done so,
with great benefit.

The Classes are designed especially for the pregnant woman with advice and research from qualified midwives and health care professionals.

The course combines certain Belly Dance techniques and prenatal movements on birthing balls , relaxation techniques and deep breathing . Music is specially selected to soothe and relax.

  • In many Middle Eastern countries, Belly Dancing originated as exercises for pregnant women in preparation to labour and childbirth.
  • Research shows that certain exercises during pregnancy can help reduce some of the discomforts of pregnancy and the pain of childbirth and even help to shorten labour.
  • It can prepare the mind and body for the task ahead and can help to encourage a speedy recovery after the birth.
  • Many prenatal exercise programs already teach belly dance movements, indeed I recall being told to "move like a belly dancer" at my Pre natal swimming classes run by qualified midwives.

 

  • Belly dancing through pregnancy is very enjoyable and the soft circling movements ensure intensive contact with the baby.
  • It helps to establish a bond between mother and baby even before the baby is born.
  • It is relaxing and soothing for both mother and baby.
  • The areas needed for giving birth are exercised and strengthened and blood flow is increased and the woman becomes more aware of her pregnant body.
